Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon went to Washington to seek support for UN efforts aimed at developing a climate agreement. Ban Ki-moon hopes that the new treaty will be approved in December 2009 in Copenhagenat the meeting of States Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. TEHRAN (Reuters) – Iran accused of spying arrested three American citizens, said Monday the official news agency IRNA quoting a prosecutor, although Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said there was no evidence to support the charges. Shane Bauer, 27, Sarah Shourd, 31, and Josh Fattal, 27, were detained after arriving in Iran from the northern border with Iraq in late July. Their families said they crossed the border accidentally. The three are accused of espionage, IRNA said Tehran's prosecutor general, Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi. Investigations are continuing against the three Americans held in Iran, he added. The event occurs when amid high tension between Iran and the West over Tehran's nuclear plans, and then that Iranian officials accuse foreign nations to promote the worst riots in three decades, which followed the disputed presidential elections in June. United States sent strong messages to Iran, calling for the release of the three hikers and asking the authorities to have compassion with them. We strongly believe that there is no evidence to support any charges whatsoever, Clinton said in Berlin on Monday.

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia for 10 months of 2009 fell compared with last year at 51% to 1 232 514 vehicles. This was reported in the press release automakers Committee Association of European Businesses (AEB).

12 people were killed and over 31 wounded in a shooting at a U.S. military base of Fort Hood, Texas. Told Pentagon spokesman General Bob Cone.
